Foundation of Unitech Corp. Through a strategic alliance with the software factory Hitware, based in Tandil, the first version of TRAMIX—a key monitoring and management tool for the administration of public and governmental data and files—was developed. The 4GL HITSQL tool was used. That same year, TRAMIX was successfully implemented in the National Ministry of Economics.

This version distinguished itself for being one of the first applications based on open systems, like Unix, and it was a pioneer in migration projects from propietary technologies, thus producing one of the greatest impacts of technological change in State organizations.

The following year, Unitech acquired Hitware, and merged it with Unitech’s factory team. The first version of Enterprise Manager—an ERP system based on open standards, and the first in the independent market of database engines—was developed. Unisel implemented it to manage its commercial processes. Then it was replicated in an important list of corporate clients.

Meanwhile, TRAMIX continued to grow in functions and implementations. It had almost 2,000 users, among them, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Religions, the Secretary of Industry, and the Secretary of Agriculture of the National Government. Unitech developed the following modules: Budget accounting and Patrimonial and Costs Accounting; both implemented in the Government of the Province of Cordoba and the National Institute of Viti-viniculture.

TRAMIX reached almost 3,500 users. The development of TRAMIX Human Resources and TRAMIX Salary Payments, began. Enterprise Manager included the Human Resources modules, Payment of Salaries, Financial Administration, Commercial Management, Fixed Assets, Banking Operations Table, Clients’ Documentation follow up and Stock Transactions and Market News. New clients adopted these solutions. Some of them were: Government of the Province of Catamarca, ENRE, Indec, Ministry of the Interior, Government of the Province of Neuquen, Reuters, IBM, Pirelli Cables, Banco República, Bejerman Systems, ITBA, Galeno Life.

In 1996 IURIX was born. The system—derived from the TRAMIX family—is used for Judicial Cases management, and it was a joint development with Desarrollo de Sistemas S.A. (DDS). The product was designed and built to solve the needs for change of the Administration of Justice, including the reforms oriented to administrative modernization and reorganization.

Through a strategic alliance with DDS, Unitech made a bid for the Province of Neuquen tender for the modernization of the Judicial System—first such tender in Argentina with international financing. Out of the union, DDS Unitech Iberoamericana was born, and today it is a leader in solutions for judicial systems and public ministries of the law (for more details consult www.ddsunitech.com.ar). At the end of ’96, Unitech won the first bid for computerizing the Judicial System of Neuquen.

The TRAMIX, IURIX and Enterprise Manager family of products continued improving their performance. Strategic alliances were established with suppliers of technology like IBM, Informix, Oracle, Microsoft, Lotus, SCO/Unix and Openlink. New clients came up: Ministry of Education, Secretary of Science and Technologies, Presidency, Banco Provincia, Automotive Transport Commission, Compass Group (CorpBanca), Federal Police (Retirement Funds), Judicial System of Mendoza, Judicial System of Salta, Judicial System of the City of Buenos Aires, Ombudsman Office of the City of Buenos Aires, Sanatorio La Trinidad, Jockey Club, Clínica del Sol, National Commission of Atomic Energy, Conicet, National Telecommunications Center and Government of the Province of San Juan.

After 2001 crisis in Argentina, and under the new economic rules, Unitech and DDS decided to open commercial operations in Brasil, Mexico and Spain. They signed a strategic agreement with SoftTek to represent TRAMIX and IURIX in the governmental and judicial markets of that country.

With a view to backing the initiative, an intese one year long commercial campaign was developed. In Mexico, the product was presented to the Public Security Secretary, Secretary of the Governor’s Office, Secretary of Public Education, Secretary of Foreign Relations, Secretary of the Exchequer and Public Loans, Secretary of Health, Secretary of Tourism, Secretary of Economics, Secretary of Labor and Social Plans IMSS, Government of the Federal District, SECODAM, Forescasts for the Public Assistance Lottery, Mexican Public Assistance Postal Service, Secretary of the Agrarian Reform, SENER, SAGARPA, SCT, SEDESOL, SEDENA, SEMARNAT, Legislative System of Guadalajara, Guadalajara Mayor’s Office, and Monterrey Mayor’s Office.

IURIX was introduced to the Federation Judicial System, Supreme Court of Justice, Superior Court of Justice of the Federal Distric, Superior Agrarian Court, Attorney General, Attorney General of the Federation, Federal Attorney for Consumer Defence, and to the Adjudication Council of the Federation. As a result of the commercial campaign described, Unitech produced TRAMIX and IURIX versions for the government and Judicial System of Mexico. SoftTek continued the development and closure of the commercial opportunities detected, and Unitech and DDS opened second level support and begun products customization.

Unitech’s solutions and products continued growing. They were prepared to run on free software. Versions of TRAMIX, IURIX and Enterprise Manager were implemented on Linux and PostgressSQL, with portals based on Struts, Lucene, Tomcat and Jboss.
A strategic alliance was signed with the National University of the Center of the Province of Buenos Aires (UNICEN), to include Unitech in the Technological Development Pole. Interns were incorporated to the company and joint actions were established for the development of software under international quality regulations, CMM.

The Center for Telephone Online Support Attention was opened for clients residing in Argentina, and a Help Desk was inaugurated, using a 0800 line. New clients were added to our customer portfolio: Nuclear Regulation Authority (ARN), the Ministry of Justice of the Government of the Province of Buenos Aires, (SPM) System of Medical Protection and its fusion with AMSA.

Together with DDS, the first international tender for Justice Reform of the Judicial System of Argentina was won, and there began the organizational and systems development for the IURIX implementation in the Federal Civil and Commercial Nº 2 Courts of Mar del Plata, Federal Courts of Chaco, First Civil Instance Court Nº 46, First Civil Instance Court Nº 74, First Civil Instance Court Nº 78, First Civil Instance Court Nº 100, First Commercial Instance Court Nº 5, First Commercial Instance Court Nº 11, First Commercial Instance Court Nº 15, Federal Social Security Court Nº 1, Federal Social Security Court Nº 8, Federal Social Security Court Nº 9.

In 2004, Unitech successfully carried out project PROJUM, through which it developed and designed the new management model of the administration of justice. During the same year, it was implemented in the 12 courts that participated in the project.
At the same time, organizational consultancy in ISO 9000 quality systems implementation begun, for the areas of government and justice. TRAMIX included all the necessary functions for the standard documentation control, which allow the follow up, not only of the administrative and judicial files, but also of the so called quality file of every one of the organizations that follow ISO 9000 standard.

Finally, Unitech won the tender of the Ministry of Justice of the Province of Buenos Aires, to computerize all Juridical Persons Direction files. Thanks to this solution, the inscription delays of the Civil and Commercial companies and civil associations diminished from days or weeks, to a few hours.

Project PROJUM was successfully accomplished. The authorities signed a contract with an external auditing firm to determine the convenience of replicating it in all National Judicial System. The auditing firm recommeded its adoption.
Unitech began its process of Strategic Planning for the following five years, which included a detailed tactical action plan for every area of the company. Together with this process, the definition and implementation of all company’s processes oriented to the ISO 9000 certification began.

At the same time, the technological renewal of Enterprise Manager`s component applications started, with the purpose of migrating them to RIA (Rich Internet Applications), on Acrobat’s Flex Builder. This was a project financed by Galeno, for the updating of its 400 desktops.
As a consequence, a specialized ERP in the business of health providers was generated, which positions them at the cutting edge of technology.

Unitech signed an agreement with Errepar, to delegate on the latter the exclusive distribution of a company product that competes in the law professionals market. This product will be developed with the latest Microsoft technology and will consist of a suite of tools that will make it unique in the market. Its name will be Legal Office: Integral Management for Lawyers.
2006 began for Unitech and DDS with the Judicial System of the Province of Corrientes computerizing awarding. This project will take two years and will include more than 2,400 users. It is a great challenge for Unitech, and it will be carried out under the procedures and standards established in its quality plan.

The company also signed a contract for a very important project to computerize La Punta University, in the Province of San Luis.
At the same time it won the contract for development, under TRAMIX system, of all the controls and transactions that the Argentine Nuclear Regulatory Authority must carry out. In september, Legal Office will be launched to the market, together with Errepar.
